Summary of Results for 2015-16
In 2015-16 the Fitzroy Basin received a B grade for aquatic ecosystem health with no change to the overall score compared to last year. Connors, Callide and Mackenzie Rivers were awarded C grades while all other catchments were awarded B grades.
For the first time in six years, none of the catchments in the Fitzroy Basin received a poor score for toxicants. Barramundi recruitment was unfortunately disappointing this year in the Fitzroy Estuary. Physical-chemical results were generally good across the region with notable improvements in the Upper Isaac for turbidity and Nutrient results were also generally good. Copper and Aluminium continue to stand out as toxicants of interest and Ecology data remains patchy across the basin. Rainfall totals were very low across most of the basin and subsequently groundcover was also low.
