Summary of Results for 2022-23
The overall Ecosystem Health index for the Fitzroy Basin waterways increased from a C (Fair) to a B (good). This is related to the inclusion of new ecological indicators. Across the Basin's 11 freshwater catchments, the ecology category significantly improved compared to the 21-22 Report Card.
Indicators generally met desired levels. This category was graded "Good" across all 11 freshwater catchments.
Nutrient indicators had mostly "Good" grades and some "Fair" grades throughout the Fitzroy Basin.
Overall toxicants scores in the Fitzroy Basin were mainly "Fair" to "Poor" which was similar to the previous year.
Ecology indicators scored mostly "Good" and "Fair" grades across the different catchments. This year, ecology data was available across all freshwater catchments. With expanded indicators the ecology category now provides a better representation of waterway health.
