With the new year comes a new decade. We are proud of our past achievements and excited for what the future holds. This year we will deliver our ninth report card on the collective health of the Fitzroy Basin and next year we will have been reporting on river health for a decade.

We strive to stay at the forefront of our industry. This year we are working on a new and improved website, more time efficient methods to analyse data, as well as community participation strategies to get more people involved in river health reporting. Watch this space!

Working together to report on river health

Partners and Independent Science Panel members attended our combined meeting in Brisbane, in late November, to discuss our strategic direction and priorities. Thanks to our partner QRC for the use of their meeting room.

Changeology to drive positive change

Two of our team attended a one-day Changeology workshop late last year. Changeology is a widely used approach to designing programs and projects and looks at the psychology of behaviour change. These principles will be incorporated into our future projects.

Spotlight on Central Highlands rivers

Nogoa November, hosted by Central Highlands Regional Council and CHRRUP was another success and our team was there again to support it, this time alongside our host organisation Fitzroy Basin Association. We talked with locals about the report card and the health of their local catchments of Nogoa, Comet and Theresa.

Stewardship in action

One of our partners, Stanmore Coal has recently installed a new pumping system at its Isaac Plains processing plant which uses mine-affected water instead of raw water, saving up to 200 megalitres of raw water per year. To find out more about the work they are doing click here.

Mindi on show at Christmas Fair

Rockhampton's annual CBD Christmas Fair attracts thousands of people from around the region to celebrate the Christmas season and witness the lighting of Rockhampton's Christmas tree. The event is hosted by our partner Rockhampton Regional Council. A big thanks to the daughter of an employee of Fitzroy Basin Association, one of our major partners, for dressing up as Mindi for the event. Please get in touch if you want to see Mindi at your event.
