Continuing our work during Covid 19
Our team is still working towards the release of our ninth report card on Thursday 30th July, a little over three months away. To make sure we comply with Social Distancing rules all of our business meetings are happening in the 'virtual world’. Our first virtual meeting was with our Independent Science Panel (see the great pictures above).

How we live and work has changed and these changes will be in place for some time to come. Thanks to the power of technology we are able to continue with our work using different methods to communicate and keep in touch. We hope you all stay safe and well during this challenging time.

Community engagement using technology

We held a joint virtual class with Fitzroy Basin Association for Year 7 Rockhampton State High School students in late March.

The class learnt how we monitor the water quality in our region and how our ecosystem health report cards are prepared using data from our Partners in the Fitzroy Basin.

Microplastics focus of Honours study

Congratulations to Tiffany Brown, CQUniversity Australia Honours student and recipient of our annual HeART of the Basin scholarship awarded on the 10th of February.

Tiffany is researching the presence of microplastics in our waterways by quantifying the amount released per litre of water from the Rockhampton region's waste water treatment plants. Learn more here.

Rural landholders learn about FPRH

Over 100 landholders attended Fitzroy Basin Association's Open the Gate Forum on the 11th of March.

Our Executive Officer spoke about the work of Fitzroy Partnership for River Health and our annual report cards on the health of Fitzroy Basin waterways. Another opportunity to highlight the great work of our Partnership organisations.

Water bugs spread river health message

We were proud to be part of Rockhampton Regional Council's Sustainability in Action event on the 22nd of February.

The focus of this event was a water bug activity and sharing habits and tips to help people live more sustainably and have a positive imapct on their local waterways.
