Human Dimensions
The term human dimensions refers to how and why humans value natural resources, how humans want resources managed and how humans affect, and are affected by natural resources management decisions. Human dimensions reporting in the Fitzroy region commenced in late 2021 with an inaugural online community survey conducted with the support of the CSIRO as part of the Social and Economic Long-Term Monitoring Program (SELTMP). A second survey was then conducted in May 2024 to re-evaluate the community’s perceptions of our local waterways. The results and comparisons from both surveys can be accessed below, both for the combined reef reporting area, and for the Fitzroy region specifically.
