Partnership meeting sets plan for 2021

While it's been a challenging year with COVID adding a number of hurdles to everyday activities, Fitzroy Partnership was pleased to welcome a number of partnership representatives in person and online for a bi-annual meeting in Rockhampton on Tuesday 10 November 2020. The meeting discussed the full range of activities and achievements of the Partnership during the year and looked forward to 2021 to two major items, a strategic review of the partnership due in February and the release of the 10-year Annual Report Card mid-year. These milestones offer enormous kudos to our partners for their ongoing commitment to independent reporting of waterways in the Fitzroy Basin, which now shows long-term trends in each catchment - https://riverhealth.org.au/report_card/ehi/trend.

New Regional Water Monitoring Program

Stakeholders met in Rockhampton on Monday 9 November to discuss the proposed Fitzroy Regional Receiving Environment Monitoring Program (RREMP). Led by Fitzroy Partnership, key benefits of the new RREMP include greater consistency in monitoring and data quality, a reduction in knowledge gaps across the Basin and more meaningful data on the overall ecosystem health of the Basin. Annual Report puts spotlight on Partnership achievements

Recently we released our first official Annual Report for the 2019-2020 year, and took the opportunity to also highlight the key achievements of the Partnership since its inception. We encourage you to review the Annual Report on our website, which includes a Chair's message and explains partnership linkages to achieve tangible outcomes for local waterways and the Great Barrier Reef - see A nnual Report.

Renewed citizen science emphasis in Fitzroy

COVID has certainly put a halt to community engagement for the bulk of 2020, however Fitzroy Partnership has made a commitment to increasing its citizen science activities in 2021. A new Science Officer will commence employment with Fitzroy Partnership in January 2021 to re-engage with schools and community groups and increase input of citizen science data into the MyWater Community Portal. If you would like us to attend a classroom activity or community event, please get in touch.

Get your print copy of the 18-19 Report Card

The 2018-19 Report Card on waterway health is still available and we encourage partners, schools and community members to display and use printed copies for engagement and educational purposes. Season's Greetings

We have achieved a number of milestones in 2020 including the release of our ninth waterway report card, success with the Darwinian Consulting 'What's Our Grade' Report and leading discussions on the proposed Fitzroy Regional Receiving Environment Monitoring Program (RREMP), to name only a few. We thank our valued partners for their ongoing support. Our office will close from Friday 18 December 2020 and will reopen on Monday 4 January 2021.
