Aquatic ecology in action

CQG’s environmental scientists are often out and about conducting aquatic ecology surveys, including macroinvertebrate sampling, water quality monitoring and fish community surveys. The information collected helps build an understanding of the ecological values of waterways upstream, within, and downstream of sites, providing important input into environmental approvals and compliance reporting.
One recent survey recorded a range of native fish species which, together with macroinvertebrate and water quality data, helped build a comprehensive picture of the waterway’s overall health. In a separate dewatering project, our team successfully captured and relocated hundreds of native aquatic animals to suitable nearby habitat. This work helped reduce impacts on the ecosystem while allowing the project to proceed safely and responsibly.
