A base model will be developed to calculate end of catchment salinity estimates for the 11 freshwater catchments of the Fitzroy to present simulated effects on:
• Ecology (using Fitzroy Partnership Ecosystem Health Index)
• Drinking water (using Australian Water Quality Guidelines)
• Stock, Irrigation and Domestic (using Australian Water Quality Guidelines)

This base model will also provide an estimate of current operational level salinity contributions for coal mines at major downstream points of interest, including Fitzroy River at the Gap for wet, dry and normal year scenarios.
